Black Bears Rocking Spring Sports

*The Black Bears Baseball Team enjoyed a Home-opening win Tuesday night beating Madison Academy 10-0 at our new field. The Bears put up a fight against Russellville on Wednesday night coming back to win the game 9-7. Baseball went 6-0 on Saturday with the Varsity beating
Madison Academy 15-0 and Thompson 10, JV getting two wins, and 9th grade getting two wins! Go Bears!!
*The Black Bear Girls Soccer Team lost to Decatur 5-0 on Friday night. The JV girls lost 3-1.
*The Black Bear Girls Softball Team lost to Hazel Green 2-0 Tuesday night but bounced back with a win against Decatur 11-9 on Wednesday! The Lady Bears traveled to Auburn beating Central Phoenix City 3-2 on
Friday. They went 1-1 on Saturday. Go Lady Bears!
*The Black Bear Varsity Track team traveled to Bob Jones to run in the Redcoat Invitational on Saturday with the Girls coming in 3rd place in the 4 x 1. Miya Bennett placed 1st in the 100 and 200m and Makenzie Harris placed 2nd in 100m and 3rd in 200m. #ahsbbn

AHS Student Receives Honorable Mention

Zakari Mitchell was recently recognized by the prestigous NCWIT Alabama (National Center for Women & Information Technology) for her aptitude in technology and computing, her leadership abilities, her academic history, and her goals for post-secondary education. Zakari is an excellent representative for the AHS community, and we are so proud and happy for her. Congratulations to Zakari upon receiving honorable mention!!!

Black History Month

Visit our Black History displays in the AHS Media Center! Artwork by Decatur artist, Mrs. Pamela Farmer, has been loaned to the school and celebrates black Americans who have contributed to society in all walks of life. Her work is displayed in universities and museums. We are grateful that Mrs. Farmer has allowed us to use her work. Books are also displayed for students to check out and enjoy on a wide range of subjects from the Tuskegee Airmen to the Civil Rights Movement.
